We refer to Dibels practice as Jedi training in our classroom. We are working towards individual goals for our end of the year scores in the DIBELS test. In order to meet these goals, we practice the various tests every day. This practice will not only help our scores increase, but will help with our phonics and phonemic awareness. The following are the three kindergarten tests at the end of the year:
1. Letter naming: name 40 letters in a minute
1. Letter naming: name 40 letters in a minute
2. Segmenting: Tell me the sounds you hear in CAT C/A/T or MOP M/O/P
3. Nonsense word fluency: read as words (or just the sounds in the words)

In my class we practice individually and as a whole class. When we reach a goal as a class, I reward them with a very silly video. I am going to link some of the class' favorites below. If your student reaches a goal, show them one of the videos. WARNING - They are very, very silly, but great motivation!!!
